The Hounds of Tara (photo)In 2003, I wrote a poem "The Hounds of Tara." The poem is about two mythical Irish Wolfhounds, "Awen" and "Greybeard" the first two wolfhounds of Ireland who return as sentinels of liberty. On my last trip to Ireland, I had the good fortune to see two magnificent wolfhounds and they became my Awen and Greybeard, "The Hounds of Tara." Their heads appear in the clouds above the Hill of Tara, Awen on the left and Greybeard on the right. © 2004 Phil McDonald |
